San Antonio - Trinity first-year swimmer Daniel Sarman, and sophomore divers Anthony Liva and Bella Peters have been tabbed as the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Swimmer and Divers of the Week.
Each turned in superb performances in Birmingham, Alabama, last weekend in dual meets with Birmingham-Southern (AL) College. Trinity's men's swimming & diving team beat the Panthers, while the Tiger women came up short.
Sarman was named the SCAC Men's Swimmer of the Week. He swam the butterfly leg of the 200-medley relay in 23.4 seconds. Sarman posted a time of 53.3 seconds in the 100-yard backstroke, and touched the pad in 47.7 seconds in the 100-yard freestyle. He was the leadoff swimmer in the 800-yard freestyle relay, chalking up a time of 1:43.8. The Tigers posted a time of 7:06.89, good for a top-50 ranking in the NCAA Division III.
Liva was selected as the SCAC Men's Diver of the Week for the second time this season. He won the 3-meter diving event with an NCAA mark of 296.05 and was third on the low board. Liva earlier qualified for the NCAA Division III Region 2 Diving Championships, to be held March 1-2 at Grinnell, Iowa.
Peters earned SCAC Women's Diver of the Week accolades. She finished in the top slot of the 1-meter event with a score of 233.55 and was runner-up on the high board.
Trinity's teams will defend their titles February 13-16 at the SCAC Championships. The event will be held at San Antonio's Palo Alto College Aquatic Center.
