San Antonio - The Trinity swimming & diving teams have earned top-25 rankings by the latest College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America NCAA Division III Polls.
The Tiger women moved up a notch to the #22 position, while Trinity's men entered the top-25 roll at 23rd. In the West-Midwest-South Region, both teams hold #7 rankings. Trinity's women captured the team title at the Trinity Tiger Invitational last month, while the men finished in third place. The event was held at San Antonio's Palo Alto College Aquatic Center.
A number of Tiger swimmers hold high rankings in the NCAA Division III. Heading the list is Mabel Fowler, who has the fifth-fastest mark in the women's 200-yard backstroke with an NCAA "B" Cut time of 2:01.25. Fowler is ranked 10th in the 200-yard freestyle (1:51.49) and 11th in the 500-yard freestyle (4:59.36), both of which are "B" Cut times. She also is ranked 32nd in the 50-yard backstroke, which was the leadoff for the 200-yard medley relay. Star Rosales is ranked 26th in the 50-yard butterfly, and Paige Johnson is 31st in the 100-yard butterfly.
The women's 400-yard freestyle relay team of Fowler, Rosales, Morgen Reyna, and Paige Johnson is ranked seventh nationally at 3:29.89. The 400-yard medley relay quartet of Fowler, Reyna, Rosales, and Jadyn Trahan posted a time of 3:56.00, good for a #19 ranking. Joining Fowler, Rosales, and Reyna, on the 26th-ranked 200-yard freestyle relay team was Libby Goode. Trinity's 200-yard medley relay unit of Fowler, Trahan, Reyna, and Rosales is ranked 29th on the national list.
Diver Katarina Partalas has qualified for the NCAA Division III Region 2 Diving Championships. The event is slated for March 1-2 at Grinnell, Iowa. Her personal-high on the 1-meter board is 291.55.
Beau Tipton holds a #13 ranking in the men's 200-yard butterfly with a "B" Cut performance of 1:50.06. Jacob Hurrell Zitelman is ranked 23rd in the 1,650-yard freestyle with a "B" Cut time of 16:02.77. He is 31st in the 1,000-yard freestyle and #39 in the 500-yard freestyle. Daniel Sarman has produced a #28 time in the 200-yard freestyle, and Charles Yuen is ranked 37th in the 50-yard freestyle.
Trinity's men's relay teams also are ranked in the latest polls. The highest is the 400-yard freestyle relay squad of Sarman, Leon Faulk, Eamon Morris, and Shamzi Alkaff, which holds a #22 position. Yuen, Faulk, Alkaff, and Michael Rezsofi are ranked 27th in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The 400-yard medley relay team (Sarman, Alkaff, Connor McClure, and Elliot Fleming) is ranked 35th nationally.
Men's divers Daniel Valmassei and Anthony Liva have earned a trip to the NCAA Region 2 Championships. Valmassei has posted a season-high score of 348.15 on the 3-meter board, while Liva scored 339.55 on the 1-meter.
