Trinity Swimmers and Divers Take on TCU

Fort Worth, Texas - The Trinity men's and women's swimming & diving teams more than held their own Saturday in a dual meet with NCAA Division I Texas Christian University.



TCU won both meets, taking the women's 183-106, and the men's 180.5-110.5

Mabel Fowler finished second in the women's 500-yard freestyle, just .42 seconds behind her Horned Frog opponent. Fowler's mark of 5:04.78 is the second-fastest time in Division III.

The women's 400-yard freestyle relay team was out-touched by TCU by a mere .36 seconds. The quartet consisted of Fowler, Morgen Reyna, Star Rosales, and Elizabeth Nelson.

Reyna went on to win the 100-yard freestyle in 54.43 seconds.

Elliott Fleming tied the TCU swimmer for the victory in the men's 100-yard breastroke with a time of 1:00.65.

Shamzi Alkaff was just .03 seconds away from winning the 50-yard freestyle.

Daniel Valmassei won the men's 1-meter diving with a score of 318.50, picking up another NCAA Region 2 qualifying mark. Anthony Liva was runner-up and also had an NCAA score of 276.85.



The Tigers will host the Trinity Invitational November 16-18 at San Antonio's Palo Alto College Aquatics Center.
