Tigers Sweep Diving Events at Kenyon Relays on Saturday

Gambier, Ohio - Trinity's men's and women's divers won combined first-place positions Saturday at the Kenyon (OH) College Relays.

 

HIGHLIGHTS

On the second day of the meet, divers executed optional diving - more difficult than Friday's required dives.

Daniel Valmassei and Duncan MacAskill combined to win the men's 1-meter event. Valmassei placed first with a score of 315.60, while MacAskill posted a mark of 254.20, for a 570.80 total. On Friday, Valmassei also won the low-board event.

The men's 3-meter competition went to MacAskill (267.35) and Anthony Liva (249.25) who combined for a score of 516.60. MacAskill was a first-place finisher in Friday's high-board competition.

Maren Merwarth and Katarina Partalas finished first in the women's low board, with a 412.25 total. Merwarth chalked up a score of 207.10 and her teammate was two points behind.

Partalas and Merwarth traded places in the 3-meter event. Partales scored 216.40 points and Merwath made 191.25 for a total of 407.65.

The scores will be recorded to help qualify participants in the NCAA Division III Region 2 Championships in March at Grinnell, Iowa.
