Jacob Hurrell-Zitelman Shines at Open Water Challenge Competition

Lawrence, Kansas - Trinity's Jacob Hurrell-Zitelman took on some of the best collegiate men's swimmers in the nation, and earned a medal for an eighth-place finish Saturday at the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Open Water National Championships.

 

HIGHLIGHTS

The Tiger junior swam the rigorous 5k course at Lone Star Lake in 59:52.14. His time was 35 seconds behind the champion from the University of Missouri.

The 62-field event, hosted by the University of Kansas, consisted mainly of NCAA Division I and Division II swimmers. A number of the swimmers compete for their countries in world championships.

To show the depth of the field, Hurrell-Zitelman swam a faster time than the contingent from Texas A&M University.

UP NEXT

The Tiger swimmers will compete October 26 at the UIW Invitational. The event will be hosted on the nearby University of the the Incarnate Word (TX) campus.
