Hagmann Earns All-America Honors to Highlight First Day at NCAAs

Indianapolis, Indiana – Trinity senior swimmer Lindsay Hagmann earned All-America honors in the 50 freestyle to highlight the first day of the NCAA Championships Meet for the Tigers.

Lindsay Hagmann finished eighth in the 50 free prelims this morning, setting a new Trinity and Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference record with her time of 23.23 seconds to qualify for the finals.

In the finals on Wednesday evening, Hagmann improved her school and SCAC record time to 23.16 seconds to earn a sixth-place finish.

Hagmann has now earned All-America honors four times in her career, including Honorable Mention All-American in last year's 50 free event at the NCAA Championships.

First-year divers Daniel Valmassei and Anthony Liva competed in the NCAA Championships for the first time, which also marked the first Tiger men's divers to qualify for nationals since 2008.

Valmassei finished 18th with a score of 409.55 in Wednesday's 3-meter diving competition, while Liva was 22nd with his score of 384.05 on the high board.

Hagmann will compete in the 200 freestyle individually on Thursday. She will be joined Lauren Cuda, Abbie Jones, and Star Rosales to compete in the 200 free relay on Thursday as well.

Christine Peterson will open up her part in the 2018 national meet by competing in Thursday's 1-meter diving competition.

Valmassei and Liva will be back in action on Friday to compete on the low board.
