Four Tiger Women’s Swimmers Qualify for NCAA Championships

San Antonio - Four members of the Trinity women's swim team have been selected to compete in the NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships.

Seniors Lindsay Hagmann and Lauren Cuda, along with sophomores Abbie Jones and Star Rosales will represent the Tigers March 21-24 at Indianapolis, Indiana. The quartet will swim the 400-yard freestyle relay. Hagmann is also entered in the 50 and 100-yard freestyle events.

Hagmann will compete in her fourth consecutive NCAA Championships meet. She earned All-America honors last year in the 100-yard freestyle, placing third in the race. Hagmann was also an Honorable Mention All-American in the 50-yard freestyle. In 2016, Hagmann finished seventh in the 100-yard freestyle to garner her first All-America accolades.

Cuda will now be a two-time NCAA competitor. In the 2015 event, Cuda swam the 400-yard freestyle relay, as did Hagmann. The Trinity relay team placed 22nd at the national meet.

The four tiger swimmers played major roles in Trinity's 15th consecutive Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship. Hagmann won the 50 and 100-yard freestyle events, and teamed up with Cuda, Jones, and Rosales to capture the 400-yard freestyle relay.

Trinity's Head Coach Scott Trompeter and his associates were elected the SCAC Staff of the Year for both the men's and women's teams. John Ryan, who served as the head swimming coach for 26 years, announced his retirement and now serves as an assistant coach. Kimberly Jones is also an assistant swimming coach, while Stan Randall is in the charge of the diving program.
