San Antonio - It was a clean sweep for Trinity, as the Tigers received all of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's and Women's Swimmers and Divers of the Week accolades.
First-year Shamzi Alkaff was named the SCAC Men's Swimmer of the Week, and junior Duncan MacAskill took Diver of the Week honors. Sophomore Star Rosales was tabbed as the SCAC Women's Swimmer of the Week, and senior Christine Peterson became a three-time Diver of the Week this season.
All contributed to Trinity's victories last week at Nashville, Tennessee. The Tigers combined for wins over Centre (KY) College and Birmingham-Southern (AL) College in a Sunday tri-meet.
Alkaff paced the Tiger men with an individual victory in the 50-yard freestyle. He also was a key member of the winning 400-yard medley and and 400-yard freestyle relays, while finishing second in the 100-yard freestyle event.
MacAskill scored his first win on the 3-meter board this season. He earned a qualifying score for the NCAA Division III Zone Championships, to be held March 2-3 at San Antonio's Palo Alto College Aquatic Center.
Rosales swam the final length of the victorious women's 400-yard freestyle relay race. She also placed third in the 50-yard freestyle event. Peterson posted runner-up finishes on both the low and high boards to last year's Zone champion from Centre and produced qualifying scores for the upcoming championships.
The Tiger men and women will defend their team titles February 14-17 at the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships in The Colony, Texas.
