San Antonio - Trinity senior Lindsay Hagmann and first-year Anthony Liva have been selected as the respective Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Swimmer of the Week and Men's Diver of the Week.
Trinity's swimming & diving teams emerged as the winners against Centenary (LA) College, Colorado College, and McMurry (TX) University. The meets were held last Friday and Saturday in Hixon Natatorium.
Hagmann won three individual and two relay championships last weekend. On Friday, against Centenary, Hagmann won the 200-yard freestyle race, and swam the second leg of the winning 400-yard medley relay event.
In Saturday's tri-meet with Colorado College and McMurry, Hagmann captured the 50-yard freestyle, the 100-yard freestyle, and was part of the championship 400-yard freestyle relay quartet. Hagmann is a two-time All-American in the 100-yard freestyle, and has earned Honorable Mention All-America honors in the 50-yard freestyle.
Liva earned Diver of the Week accolades for the second straight time, finishing first on both the 1-meter and 3-meter boards each day. Liva posted NCAA Division III qualifying scores against Centenary, with a 366.75 on the 1-meter board, and 338.10 on the high board. He has now won five diving events in his early collegiate career: three on the high board and two on the low board.
Liva qualified for the NCAA Division III Diving Regional, to be hosted by Trinity at San Antonio's Palo Alto College Natatorium in February.
Trinity's swimmers and divers will take on San Antonio's University of the Incarnate Word on Friday. The Tiger divers will compete against the Cardinals at 3:30 p.m. in Trinity's Hixon Natatorium. The swim team heads to nearby UIW for a 4:00 p.m. starting time.
