Trinity Swimming Defeats Centenary in Season Opener

San Antonio - The Trinity men's and women's swim teams opened their fall schedules with victories over Centenary (LA) College Friday in Hixon Natatorium.



The Tiger men defeated the Gents 98-73, and Trinity's women beat the Ladies 63-48.

Trinity's men captured nine events, while the Tiger women touched first in six events. Both teams began the night with victories in the 400-yard medley relay.

Eamon Morris, Connor McClure, Nate Borchers, and Mick Kossl were the winning team on the men's side, while Paige Johnson, Lindsay Hagmann, Rebecca Andruzzi, and Caroline North took the honors for the Trinity women.

McClure also won the 200 individual medley, while Hagmann added a first-place finish in the 200 free. 

Leon Faulk was a double winner individually for the Tiger men, taking the gold in the 50 free and 100 free.

2017 NCAA qualifier Jacob Hurrell-Zitelman was tops in the 500 free, while Charles Clark was the 200 back champion, James Warren finished first in the 200 fly, and Noah Stopkotte emerged as the 200 breast winner.

The men's 200 free relay was also a win for the Tigers, as Clark, Shamzi Alkaff, Thomas Laureman, and Henry Pratt did the honors.

Star Rosales and Elizabeth Ryan won the 50 free and 100 free, respectively, while Payton Green was the 500 free champion.

Ivy Claflin rounded out Trinity's individual winners by taking the title in the women's 200 individual medlay.



The Tiger divers start the day Saturday by taking on Colorado College at 10:00 a.m in Hixon Natatorium. Trinity's swim teams will have a tri-meet with Colorado College and McMurry (TX) University, starting at noon.
