Tigers Eliminated from SCAC Tournament in Loss to Centenary

Shreveport, Louisiana - Trinity's softball team was unable to hold on to a late lead, losing a 6-4 game to Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament hosts Centenary (LA) College on Saturday afternoon.

GAME SUMMARY

After a quiet first inning, Emily Reed got the Tigers on the board with a two-out solo home run to left-center field. Centenary put two runners on with one out in the bottom of the inning, but both runners were stranded and the game remained 1-0.

Trinity took advantage of two errors to go with four hits in the third inning to push the lead to 4-0. Brianna Pena singled home a pair of runs to start the scoring, then Gina Monaco drove in another, and the Tigers had all the momentum.

The offense for the Ladies remained quiet until the fifth inning when two singles and an error got the scoring started for the home team. By the time the scoring ended that inning, Centenary had taken the lead with six runs on four hits and two Tiger errors.

Trinity got a two-out single in the sixth and a one-out walk in the seventh to bring the tying run to the plate in both innings, but the Tigers were not able to scratch across any more runs as Centenary held on for the victory.
