Tiger Softball Sweeps Schreiner to Finish Regular Season

Kerrville, Texas – The Tiger softball team closed out the regular season by sweeping a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader 6-5 and 8-0 at Schreiner (TX) University on Friday afternoon.

GAME SUMMARY

Allie Holbrook pitched a no-hitter to close out the series for the Tigers, allowing just one base runner over the five-inning game.

Trinity's offense scored all eight runs of game two in the first two innings, putting up four runs on two hits in each.

After both teams were retired in order to start today's doubleheader, Trinity took the lead with a two-run homer off the bat of Emily Reed.

Schreiner broke up the shutout in the fourth inning, scoring an unearned run on two passed balls in the inning to make it a 2-1 game.

The Tigers got the run back on Brianna Pena's RBI single to go back up by two runs at 3-1.

Two errors and two hits led to three more Trinity runs in the top of the seventh, and the visitors looked to be in control with three outs to go and a 6-1 lead.

Schreiner rallied in the bottom of the inning, scoring a quick run to make it 6-2, then loading the bases with no outs.

Trinity got the next two batters out, but the Mountaineers scored three more runs on a single, a walk, and a hit batter to close to 6-5. The Tigers got the final out, though, and carried that momentum into game two.
