Georgetown, Texas - The Trinity softball team lost a 9-0 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference game Sunday afternoon to Southwestern (TX) University.
Unfortunately for the Tigers, the team struggled at the plate this afternoon, while the home team came out hot.
In the bottom of the first, the Pirates put up three runs on three hits, which included a two-run homer and never looked back.
Southwestern added an insurance run in the second, but the third inning proved to do the most damage, as the Pirates scored five runs sparked by a three-run homer.
Marisa Trevino slammed a double into right field in the fourth inning to end Southwestern's no-hitter, but the Tigers were not able to captilize on the hit.
Trinity stands at 13-17 overall and is 7-8 in the SCAC.
Southwestern won its 14th straight game and improved to 25-4 and 12-3 SCAC. The Pirates won Friday's doubleheader with the Tigers in tightly played games.
Marisa Trevino's double was her eighth of the season. After going 1-2 at the plate, Trevino now leads the team with a .379 batting average.
Allie Holbrook (8-7) took the loss in the pitcher's circle.
The Tigers conclude their regular-season home schedule next weekend with a pair of SCAC doubleheaders against Centenary (LA) College. Friday's DH starts at 5:00 p.m. and Saturday's contests will get under way at 2:00 p.m.
