San Antonio - The Trinity softball team lost both games of a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader at home against 19th-ranked Texas Lutheran University Friday night.
The Tigers lost both games after six innings, falling 10-0 and 16-5.
Texas Lutheran scored five runs on four hits in the first two innings, taking control of the opening game with an early 5-0 lead.
Trinity got leadoff hits to start off the first two innings and stranded five runners on base over the first four innings.
After being held hitless for two innings, the Bulldogs came alive again in the fifth and sixth, adding five more runs to finish off the scoring and set up the run rule.
The Tigers struck first in the bottom of the second in game two, as Stephanie Crumrine put the home team on top 1-0 with her RBI single.
Texas Lutheran answered quickly with five runs on five hits to pull in front 5-1, and Trinity squandered two one-out singles in the bottom of the inning.
The Bulldogs added two more runs in the fourth, then scored four time in the fifth on three walks and a pair of hits to take an 11-1 lead.
Trinity scored four runs in the bottom of the fifth to keep the game going. With two outs, Brianna Pena had a two-run double and Crumrine drove in another run to make it an 11-5 game.
Texas Lutheran answered with five more runs on four hits to account for the final score and set up the run-rule.
Trinity now stands at 10-9 overall and 4-2 in the SCAC, while Texas Lutheran improved to 15-5 and 9-1 SCAC.
Brianna Pena had a double in each game to improve her team-leading total to 11 this season, as well as driving in two runs in the second game to take over the team lead with 12 RBI on the year.
Stephanie Crumrine went 2-2 with two RBI in the second game.
Trinity and Texas Lutheran will play a doubleheader starting at 1:00 p.m. Saturday.
