Softball Eliminated from SCAC Tournament in Loss to Schreiner

Georgetown, Texas – Trinity's softball team was eliminated from the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament with a 5-1 loss to Schreiner (TX) University on Saturday.



The Tigers took the early lead after turning their first hit of the game into a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning.

Schreiner stranded four runners on base in the first three innings, then broke open the game with a three-run triple in the fourth to take a 3-1 lead.

Trinity was held to just five hits total in the game, including two in the final three innings. The Mountaineers added a pair of insurance runs with a two-run homer in the sixth inning to effectively seal the win.



Trinity finishes its season with a 16-24 overall record, while Schreiner improves to 23-12-1 with the win and will advance in tournament play.

Marisa Trevino drove in the only run of the game for Trinity on a sacrifice fly in the second inning to score pinch-runner Gina Monaco.

Adrienne Edwards (5-12) and Allie Holbrook pitched three innings each, combining to allow five runs on seven hits.
