San Antonio - Five Trinity players have been elected to the All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Softball Teams.
Junior outfielder Devon Potter and sophomore utility/pitcher Adrienne Edwards made the All-SCAC First Team. First-year pitcher Allie Holbrook was selected for the Second Team, while senior outfielder Sara McCarty and junior infielder Hailey Wilson earned Honorable Mention Team accolades.
Potter leads the Tigers with a .371 batting average, going 33-89 at the plate. She is also tops with 19 runs in her column and leads with an on-base percentage of .451. Edwards is hitting .288 and is second on the team with eight doubles, along with plastering a home run. In the pitcher's circle. Edwards stands at 5-11 over 74.1 innings, and has recorded 34 strikeouts. She earlier was tabbed as the SCAC Pitcher of the Week.
Holbrook is sporting a 9-9 record and an ERA of 3.26 over 120.1 innings pitched. She has fanned 57 players during her first season as a Trinity Tiger and was also previously selected as a SCAC Pitcher of the Week.
McCarty is third on Trinity's team with a .298 batting average and has been flawless in stolen bases, going 10-10. She also has scored 14 runs in the process.
Wilson was selected for the 2016 All-SCAC Honorable Mention Team. This season, Wilson is second on Trinity's team with a batting average of .323. She also driven in 17 runs, scored 16, and cracked a home run. Wilson has drawn a team-best 11 walks from opposing pitchers.
Led by sixth-year Head Coach Brandi Dolsen, the Tigers stand at 16-22 overall and 8-12 in conference play. Trinity opens the six-team, double-elimination SCAC Softball Championship Friday in Georgetown, Texas. The fifth-seeded Tigers meet #4 Centenary (LA) College at 11:00 a.m. The winner takes on top seed and second-ranked Texas Lutheran University at 4:00 p.m. Friday. Sunday's championship game will determine both the conference title and an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament.
