Trinity completed the campaign with a 25-18 record after advancing to the SCAC final for the fourth consecutive year. It also marked the second straight time the Tigers made the championship tilt under Head Coach Brandi Crnkovic. Texas Lutheran now stands at 32-7 and will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Playoffs.
The Bulldogs scored all of their runs in the third inning, on an RBI single and double. Third baseman Sarah Paller batted 2-3 for the Tigers, collecting half of Trinity’s four hits. Katie Castillon (11-9) went the distance on the mound, allowing six hits, three earned runs, and striking out four Bulldog players.
Trinity had received a first-round bye and opened the double-elimination event Friday with a 6-1 victory over No. 3 Southwestern University. TLU shut out the Tigers 6-0 in Saturday’s semifinals, but Trinity fought back to beat Southwestern 7-0 in an elimination game.
Two Tiger players were named to the All-Tournament Team,
junior catcher Caitlynn Dykes, and first-year third baseman Sarah
