Tiger Men’s Tennis Wraps Up Trinity Invitational

HIGHLIGHTS

Wilson Hamilton and Artur Zigman emerged as the Flight 2 Doubles champions with an 8-2 victory over Marc Maciel and Alex Gee of St. Mary’s (TX) University.

Christian Settles was runner-up in Flight 5 singles, losing by default to Saisaurov Konakanchi of St. Mary’s. Settles earlier beat Jose Alvarez of the University of the Incarnate Word (TX) 6-3, 6-0.

Hamilton placed fourth in Flight 2 Singles with a 2-6, 1-6 loss to Oliver Valentinsson of the University of the Incarnate Word.

Hao Nguyen won fifth place in the second flight of singles, beating Alex Gee of St. Mary’s 7-5, 6-2.

Nguyen teamed up with Settles to capture fifth place in Flight 1 Doubles by default. The Trinity duo had bested Bojan Popovic and Jeremiah Gonzales of St. Mary’s 8-6.

Zigman won a Flight 3 Singles fifth-place battle, defeating Maciel of St. Mary’s 6-0, 0-6, 10-7.

Jordan Pitts and Cameron Krimbill finished fourth in Flight 1 Doubles, as they were edged 5-8 by Luis Diaz and Zac Robinson of St. Edward’s (TX) University.

Brett Finan and Cal Hunter took fifth place by default in Flight 2 Doubles. The Tiger tandem earlier beat Abhi Ramireddy and Patryk Kosinski of St. Edward’s 8-5.

Krimbill outfought Popovic of St. Mary’s 6-1, 4-6, 10-8 for seventh place in Flight 1 Singles.

The Tigers will compete Thursday, September 26, through Sunday, September 29, at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Southwest Region Championships at Georgetown, Texas.
