San Antonio - Trinity's men's tennis team finished off the St. Mary's Quad with wins in two flights of the weekend event that kicked off the 2019-20 season.
Trinity reached the finals and faced off against hosting St. Mary's (TX) University in all eight of the singles flights in which they were playing, though just two Tiger men emerged with victories over their Division II opponents.
Wilson Hamilton won 6-0, 6-2 in the Flight 3 Final, while Artur Zigman took a 6-3, 6-4 victory in the Flight 4 Championship.
Jordan Pitts lost 4-6, 1-6 in the Flight 1 Final, while Cameron Krimbill dropped a 4-6, 4-6 decision in the second flight of singles.
There were five Tiger doubles teams in action today, with teams from Texas Lutheran University matching up against Trinity in all five.
Pitts and Krimbill won their Round 3 match in Flight 1 by a final of 8-2, while Christian Settles teamed up with Zigman for an 8-1 win in Flight 2.
Flights 3 and 4 went to the Tigers by scores of 8-0 on Saturday. Hamilton and Hao Nguyen won the third flight, while Brett Finan and Cal Hunter teamed up in Flight 4.
The Tigers will host the Trinity Invitational on Saturday and Sunday, September 20-21, as their final tune-up before the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Southwest Regionals the following weekend in Georgetown, Texas.
