#13 Trinity Men’s Tennis Falls to #1 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in Third Round

Claremont, California - The 13th-ranked Trinity men's tennis team was eliminated from the NCAA Division III Playoffs by top-ranked host Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CA) Colleges 5-0 Saturday in the third round.

 

HIGHLIGHTS

Trinity completed its dual-match season with a 17-10 overall record. The Tigers opened their 10th consecutive NCAA appearance Friday with a 5-0 decision over 26th-ranked Whitman (WA) College. 

The Stags swept the doubles matchups and went up 3-0 headed into singles play.

The closest match was the third line as Wilson Hamilton and Christian Settles lost an 8-7 battle and finished the season with a 13-4 record.

Wilson Lambeth and Jordan Pitts had their nine-match win streak snapped after losing #1 doubles, and completed the campaign with an 18-4 dual match record.

Cameron Krimbill and Artur Zigman came up short on the second line and wrapped up the year with an 11-6 record.

Claremont-Mudd-Scripps momentum continued into singles competition and Lambeth lost the top line of singles in straight sets, which broke his 12-match win streak and ended his dual match season with a 15-7 record.  

The match was clinched fro the Stags, as senior Tilden Oliver lost in two sets at line six.

 

UP NEXT

Wilson Lambeth and Jordan Pitts will compete in the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships May 24-26 at Kalamazoo. Each received a bid to the 32-draw Singles Championship, and the Trinity duo will represent Trinity in the 16-team Doubles Championship.
