San Antonio - The 17th-ranked Trinity men's tennis team posted a 9-0 shutout home victory over East Texas Baptist University Saturday afternoon.
Five of the six singles matches were captured by the Tigers in straight sets. Hamilton played the top line, Cameron Krimbill won the second, Tilden Oliver played the fourth line, Settles got the decision in the #5 match, and Zigman took the sixth.
Jace Akagi-Okuma lost the first set of #3 singles 2-6, but fought back to win the next two sets 6-0 and 10-8.
The Tigers evened their season record at 4-4 and stand at 4-0 against NCAA Division III opponents. East Texas Baptist dropped to 3-2 after the loss.
The Tigers will play two matches at the nearby San Antonio Country Club on Friday, March 1. First up is a match at 10:00 a.m. with Laredo (TX) Community College, ranked fourth in the National Junior College Athletic Association. Trinity then takes on Division I member University of the Incarnate Word (TX) at 4:00 p.m.
