San Antonio - Trinity's Wilson Lambeth was selected as the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week, while Wilson Hamilton and Christian Settles were honored as the Doubles Team of the Week.
The 17th-ranked men's tennis team went 3-4 in the first part of the campaign, including a 3-0 mark against NCAA Division III opponents. Trinity lost twice to NCAA Division I member Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, fell to DI's Abilene Christian (TX) University, and to JUCO powerhouse Tyler (TX) Junior College. The Tigers defeated Division III teams Hardin-Simmons (TX) University, McMurry (TX) University, and #29 Lewis & Clark (OR) College.
Lambeth played #2 singles in six of the matches and sported a 3-3 record. After losing twice to A&M-Corpus Christi, Lambeth proceeded to win three of his next four matchups. He brought home the victories against Hardin-Simmons, Tyler Junior College, and Lewis and Clark, while coming up short against Abilene Christian.
Hamilton and Settles stand at 3-0 as a #2 doubles team. The Tiger duo defeated players from Tyler Junior College, McMurry, and Lewis & Clark.
Trinity heads to Austin, Texas, Saturday to take on St. Edward's (TX) University of Division II in an exhibition match at 11:00 a.m. The Hilltoppers are ranked 24th in the Division II poll. The Tigers return home February 23 for a Division III showdown with East Texas Baptist University at 1:00 p.m.
