New Braunfels, Texas - The 17th-ranked Trinity men's tennis team beat #29 Lewis & Clark (OR) College 8-1 Saturday night on the covered courts of the John Newcombe Tennis Ranch.
Today's match was moved to Newk's because of court conditions at Trinity.
The Tigers captured two of three doubles matches. Wilson Hamilton and Christian Settles took the second line, while Matt Tyer and Artur Zigman were winners on the third. Wilson and Lambeth and Jordan Pitts played the top line and lost their first match of the campaign.
All six singles matches went to Trinity players in straight sets. The closest was #3 singles when Hamilton fought his way to winning a first-set tiebreaker.
The Tigers improved their overall record to 3-4 and stand at 3-0 against NCAA Division III opponents. Lewis & Clark dropped to 0-2 with the loss.
The Tigers head to Austin, Texas, on Saturday, February 16, to take on NCAA Division II member St. Edward's (TX) University at the Austin Tennis Academy at 11:00 a.m. St. Edward's is ranked 24th in the DII poll.
