Abilene, Texas - The 17th-ranked Trinity men's tennis team concluded its road trip Sunday with an 8-1 victory over NCAA Division III opponent McMurry (TX) University.
The Tigers started the day by winning all three doubles matches. Wilson Lambeth and Jordan Pitts took the top line 8-2. Wilson Hamilton and Christian Settles won #2 doubles, and Cameron Krimbill and Artur Zigman were winners on the third, both with 8-0 decisions.
The singles lineup was shifted, and Trinity won five of six of the pairings, all in straight sets.
Hamilton won the top line, Krimbill moved up to line two, Akagi-Okuma competed at #3 singles, Tilden Oliver represented the Tigers on the fourth line, Settles was the #5 player, and Zigman rounded out the lineup at #6. The only loss came at #4 singles when Oliver retired in the first set with the score at 3-4.
Trinity improved its overall record to 2-4, and is undefeated in DIII matches at 2-0. McMurry dropped to 0-2 after the loss.
Trinity will host #29 Lewis & Clark (OR) College at 1:00 p.m next Saturday.
