Thousand Oaks, California - The 15th-ranked Trinity men's tennis team picked up a 9-0 victory over California Lutheran University on Thursday.
The Tigers started off the match strong and took a 3-0 lead after doubles play.
Tilden Oliver and Lars Wiik got things started for Trinity with their 8-2 win at line three. First-years Wilson Hamilton and Jace Akagi-Okuma picked up the next win at line two, and Wilson Lambeth and Jordan Pitts wrapped up the doubles competition with a vicory in the top spot.
Trinity continued the sweep in singles play, earning all six points.
Akagi-Okuma got things started with a convincing 6-0, 6-1 win at line four, and Oliver was able to clinch the match for the Tigers after earning a 6-1,6-2 win at line five. Lambeth, Pitts, Wiik, and Hamilton represented Trinity in the remaining four spots and were all able to earn straight set victories over their opponents.
Trinity will conclude their California trip tomorrow with two matches, starting with 25th-ranked Case Western Reserve (OH) University at 9:00 a.m. (PDT) in Claremont. The Tigers will wrap up the trip against top-ranked Emory (GA) University at 4:00 p.m. (PDT) in Los Angeles.
