#16 Men's Tennis Wins Seventh Straight After 6-3 Victory Over Pacific

San Antonio - The 16th-ranked Trinity men's tennis team extended its win streak to seven matches after defeating Pacific University (OR) 6-3 Thursday evening.

The Tigers came out strong in doubles competition to earn a 3-0 lead headed into singles. First-years Jace Akagi-Okuma and Wilson Hamilton got things going for Trinity with a 8-2 win at line two doubles for their seventh consecutive win as a team. Wilson Lambeth and Jordan Pitts then expanded the Tiger lead with a close 8-6 victory at the top line to earn their 10th straight doubles team win, and Tilden Oliver and Lars Wiik followed suit with an 8-6 win of their own at line three.

Lambeth got things done quickly at line two singles and earned a solid 6-0, 6-3 victory to give the Tigers a 4-0 lead. Pacific battled back though, as Jordan Pitts fell 6-4, 6-2 at line one to give the Boxers their first point of the match.

The Boxers used that momentum and picked up the win at line four to make it a 4-2 match, but Akagi-Okuma picked up a huge 6-3, 6-2 victory for the Tigers at line three to clinch the team win.

Wiik picked up the final win for Trinity by battling into the third set to earn a 6-3, 2-6, 6-3 victory at line five.

Trinity will host 30th-ranked University of Texas-Tyler tomorrow morning at 10:00 a.m.
