Akagi-Okuma was named the SCAC Men's Tennis Singles Player of the Week, while Lambeth and Pitts were tabbed as the Men's Doubles Team of the Week for the third time. Each player contributed to the 15th-ranked Tigers 3-2 record last week on a trip to California.
Trinity claimed victories over #32 Swarthmore (PA) College, California Lutheran University, and 25th-ranked Case Western Reserve (OH) University. Fifth-ranked Wesleyan (CT) University and #14 Pomona-Pitzer (CA) Colleges emerged as winners over the Tigers.
Akagi-Okuma went 4-1 in the matches, competing on the fourth singles line. He defeated opponents from Wesleyan, Swarthmore, California Lutheran, and Case Western Reserve, while coming up short against Pomona-Pitzer. This season, Akagi-Okuma stands at 7-8. Including a 6-6 mark at #4 singles.
Lambeth and Pitts went undefeated in all five matches, winning the #1 doubles pairings on each occasion. The Tiger tandem is sporting a 9-5 record this season, all on the top line of doubles.
Trinity stands at 5-10 during the campaign, and is 4-7 against NCAA Division III opponents. The Tigers will host three matches this weekend, starting with Austin (TX) College at 4:00 p.m. Friday. Trinity then takes on Hardin-Simmons (TX) University at 9:00 a.m. Saturday, followed by a 2:00 p.m. matchup with East Texas Baptist University.
