San Antonio - The 15th-ranked Trinity men's tennis team ended their Spring Break road trip with a 5-4 win over 25th-ranked Case Western Reserve (OH) University, while their match against first-ranked Emory (GA) University was cancelled due to rain.
Despite dropping the first doubles match of the day, the Tigers rallied to win the next two and take a 2-1 lead after doubles.
The Spartans rallied back in singles play with victories at lines six and three to pull in front as a team. Akagi-Okuma was able to pick up Trinity's first singles point at line four with a great 6-4, 6-1 victory, and Tilden Oliver followed suit with a close 7-5, 7-5 win at line five too put Trinity up 4-3. Hamilton had a close match at line one, but eventually fell 6-3, 3-6, 5-7 in the top spot, which tied the match.
Pitts came through with a huge 7-5, 5-7, 6-4 win at line two to lead the Tigers to a 5-4 victory over the Spartans.
Trinity will return home Friday, March 23 for a matchup against Austin (TX) College at 4:00 p.m.
