San Antonio - The 13th-ranked Trinity men's tennis team fell 5-4 to Laredo (TX) Community College to wrap up the weekend.
After a slight rain delay, the Tigers started off strong in doubles and came away with a 2-1 lead headed into singles action.
First-years Wilson Hamilton and Jace Akagi-Okuma started things off for Trinity with their solid 8-1 victory at line two. Shortly after that though, Laredo was able to tie things up by taking the win at line three, but Wilson Lambeth and Jordan Pitts pulled off an 8-4 victory at the top spot to give the Tigers the advantage.
The Palaminos picked up the first win in singles play rather quickly at line four and used that momentum to pick up three straight wins at lines three, five and six to clinch the match.
The Tigers finished off the day with two solid singles victories though, as Hamilton picked up a 6-2, 6-4 win in the top line of singles. Pitts then rallied back after dropping his first set to earn a 0-6, 6-4, 6-3 victory to give Trinity their fourth point of the match.
The Tigers will travel to St. Peter, Minnesota to compete in the ITA Indoor National Championships and will first take on Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CA) on Friday, February 23 at a time yet to be determined.
