Men's Tennis Players Eliminated From ITA Regionals

San Antonio - The Tiger men's singles and doubles players were eliminated from the Trinity-hosted Intercollegiate Tennis Association Southwest Region Championships on Saturday.



Fourth-seeded Wilson Hamilton beat teammate Austin Crist in the third round of the "A" Singles draw, winning a second-set tiebreaker. Hamilton then lost a three-set quarterfinals battle to #6 seed Alex Hunt of Hardin-Simmons (TX) University.

Third-seeded Wilson Lambeth fell in the third round to Gabriel Hidalgo of the University of Texas-Tyler.

Jace Akagi-Okuma had match point in a three-set matchup against #2 seed Alexis Dimanche of Southwestern (TX) University, but came up short in the third round matchup. 

Lars Wiik lost in straight sets in the third round to top-seeded Arthur Fagundes of UT-Tyler.

The top-seeded doubles team of Lambeth and Matt Tyer dropped an "A" Doubles quarterfinals matchup 8-5 to UT-Tyler's Hidalgo and Daniel Rodriguez. Lambeth and Tyer are the defending regional doubles champions, advancing to the ITA Small College National Championship match.

Hamilton and Wiik defaulted to the #4 team of Kenneth Hardy and Siddarth Kortikere from Austin (TX) College in the quarterfinals.

Tristan Rudolph and Ricky Mayer won their first-round "B" Doubles match 8-0 over Texas Lutheran University's Matthew Stephenson and Eric Wendt. The top seeds then lost 8-4 to the #8 pair of Andres Padilla and Travis Fortune from Austin (TX) College in the quarters.



Trinity starts its dual-match campaign in February.
