Claremont, California - The 13th-ranked Trinity men's tennis team was eliminated in the NCAA Division III Championship third round by #3 and host Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges 5-0 on Saturday.
The Tigers dug themselves a hole early on in doubles, as Claremont swept all three doubles points to take a 3-0 lead. Matt Tyer and Wilson Lambeth had the closest match, but fell short 8-5 at the top-line position.
The remainder of the singles matches were left unfinished, though Trinity did win the first set in two of those matchups.
Trinity finished competition in its eighth straight NCAA Championship, and ended the season with a 17-11 record. The Tigers defeated 14th-ranked Whitman (WA) College 5-2 in Friday's second round to advance to face Claremont.
Claremont improved to 30-3, and has advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals.
