#10 Men’s Soccer Shuts Out Centenary 4-0

Shreveport, Louisiana - The 10th-ranked Trinity men's soccer team shut out Centenary (LA) College 4-0 Sunday afternoon in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference matchup.



Jacob Hallenberger put the Tigers on the board early in the game with a goal in the seventh minute of action with an assist from Josh Davis.

Three minutes later goalkeeper Blake Lieberman prevented a tie with a saved shot.

Trinity had five more good chances to score after the initial goal, but the Gents keeper posted a save each time. The Tigers led 11-3 in first-half total shots.

Six minutes into the second half Hallenberger picked up his second goal of the afternoon with an assist by Ryan Hunter.

The Gents goalkeeper saved six shots after that point in the half, until Joshua Lai made it 3-0 Trinity in the 80th minute with an assist from Duncan James.

The final goal of the game came in the 86th minute as Diego Gonzalez fired the ball into the net, as Fraser Burns earned the assist.

Trinity led Centenary 25-3 in second-half total shots.



The  Tigers won their second straight game and improved to 10-1-1 overall and 8-1-0 in SCAC competition. Trinity also posted its sixth clean-sheet game of the campaign.

Centenary dropped to 1-12-0 and 0-11-1 SCAC. The Tigers shut out the Gents 6-0 on September 16 in San Antonio. 

Jacob Hallenberger recorded his first multi-goal game of the season and the second of his career. The Tiger sophomore now has four goals this season and one game-winner.

Joshua Lai scored his second goal of the season and Diego Gonzalez chalked up his first.

Blake Lieberman saved three shots in the shutout, bringing his season total to 28.

Trinity led Centenary 20-3 in shots on the mark.



The Tigers return home to take on Texas Lutheran University in an SCAC game at 5:00 p.m. Tuesday.
