Trinity Men Beaten by Southwestern in SCAC Home Contest

San Antonio – Trinity's men's basketball team had its two-game winning streak snapped in a 92-76 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference loss to Southwestern (TX) University on Saturday evening.

GAME SUMMARY

Trinity jumped out to the early lead with five points in the first 49 seconds, but Southwestern went in front with seven unanswered points over the next 63 seconds.

The Tigers led briefly once again after a three-point play, but Southwestern scored 10 of the next 12 points to pull back in front 17-10.

Trinity got no closer than a five-point deficit the rest of the way, and the Pirates blew the game open with a 17-3 run that made it a 36-17 game with 6:32 left in the first half.

Southwestern hit a pair of threes in the final 1:05 of the first half to take its largest lead at the time, heading into the locker room with a 54-32 advantage.

The Pirates were red-hot in the opening period, hitting 64.5% from the field and going 11-19 (57.9%) from three-point range.

It was more of the same after halftime as the lead ballooned to a game-best 28 points in the first five minutes of the second period. Trinity trailed by 20 or more points for most of the period, and Southwestern's first half lead was enough to carry them to the win.
