Temple, Texas - The Trinity men's golf team shot a final-round 317 Tuesday and placed fifth at the UMHB Intercollegiate at the Wildflower Country Club.
The Tigers posted a final score of 629 at the par-72 Wildflower course. Trinity finished ahead of East Texas Baptist University, host University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (TX), Mary Hardin-Baylor "B" team, Belhaven (MS) University, Howard Payne (TX) University, and Louisiana College.
Concordia (TX) University won the event with a 597 two-round score, and Schreiner (TX) University was runner-up at 610.
Dawson Dally was the Tigers' top finisher with a final-round 4-over-par 76 which was good for a 15th-place performance. Dally carded a 12-over 156 for the tournament and rose from an opening-day slot of 26th place. The Tiger sophomore posted six birdies in the event, including four in Tuesday's final round.
One stroke in back of his teammate was Peyton Bartee who tied for 16th place. DJ Springer improved his score by three strokes and climbed seven places to finish in a tie for 23rd. Bartee and Springer each chalked up 22 pars in the tournament.
Trinity's men's and women's teams will host the Alamo City Classic October 15-16 in San Antonio, with The Quarry Golf Club serving as the site of the tournament.
