Trinity Golfer Pidgeon Finishes Fifth at San Antonio Men’s Championship

San Antonio - Trinity men's golf rising sophomore Bryce Pidgeon placed fifth in last month's Greater San Antonio Men's Championship at The Quarry Golf Club.

Pidgeon completed the three-round event with a 2-under-par 211, five strokes behind the champion, Jake Stevenson. In the final 18 holes Pidgeon carded a 1-over score. He was 2-under par in the opening round and 1-under in the second.

Statistically, Pidgeon tied for the lead of the par-3 leaderboard with a 2.8 scoring average. He was tied for second place in the category of most pars or better with 48 on his card. Pidgeon was tied for fourth in pars with 39, along with posting eight birdies and an eagle.

During his first year as a Trinity golfer, Pidgeon and teammate Tucker Norris led the team with a three-round score of 227 at the 2018 West Cup in La Verne, California. The duo finished just three strokes from a slot in the top-10 standings. Pidgeon recorded a tournament-best 71 on the final day of action and led the Tiger team with seven birdies over three rounds. 

The Tiger men's team is led by Head Coach Sean Etheredge, who enters his sixth season at the helm. Trinity opens it fall schedule September 10 at the John Bohmann Memorial Invitational in Seguin, Texas.
