San Antonio - The Trinity men's golf team finished in third place after Tuesday's final round at the Alamo City Classic, which was hosted at The Quarry Golf Club.
The Tigers shot a final-round 298 to complete the tournament with a team score of 608 on the par-71 course. Trinity rose from fifth place after Monday's opening round, and broke a tie with Texas Lutheran for third on the scorecards.
The Tigers finished just eight strokes from tournament champions Hardin-Simmons (TX) University, and seven behind fellow conference school University of Dallas (TX) in the eight-team event that occurred over last two days.
Peyton Bartee was Trinity's best finisher, carding a 4-over 75 on Tuesday to tie for eighth place with a two-day total of 151. Bartee and teammate Dawson Dally tied for third in the tournament with five total birdies over the past two days.
Dally climbed to a tie for 15th with a five-stroke improvement, after finishing Monday's round in 24th place. He was also Trinity's top scorer on par-3 scoring, and tied for Bartee for the team lead in par-5 scoring for the tournament.
Tucker Norris tied for 11th place, but was just one stroke behind Bartee with a two-round score of 152. Norris finished the tournament with four birdies and 21 pars over 36 holes.
Corbin Cormier tied for the #21 slot overall, and tied for the tournament lead with 25 pars. Max Mitchell completed the tournament in a tie for 25th, bettering his first-round score by six strokes to move up from 30th place on Monday.
Trinity has completed its fall campaign, and will next compete March 5-6, 2018, at the Schreiner Spring Shootout in Kerrville, Texas.
