San Antonio - Trinity senior wide receiver Tommy Lavine has been selected as the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Football Offensive Player of the Week.
Lavine scored two touchdowns in Trinity's 52-35 SAA home victory over Austin (TX) College last weekend. Lavine caught a 33-yard TD pass from Wyatt Messex just six plays into the game, then snagged a 14-yard TD pass with just over four minutes remaining in the matchup.
All told, Lavine caught 11 passes for 153 yards, which ties his career-high for receptions and is just three yards short of his career-best in receiving yards. Lavine has posted nine career games with 100+ receiving yards and eight games with two more more touchdown receptions.
This season, Lavine has 26 receptions for 395 yards and five touchdowns. In his career, Lavine has made 168 receptions for 2,392 yards and 27 touchdowns. He now stands in sixth place in Trinity career receptions and receiving yards, and is tied for fourth in touchdowns with Jason Hunt (1999-2002).
The Tigers improved to 3-2 overall and 2-1 in SAA play. Trinity has the week off before returning to action Saturday, October 19, for an SAA game with Millsaps (MS) College at Jackson, Mississippi
