Trinity’s Holmes Elected to Preseason All-America Team

San Antonio - Trinity senior offensive lineman Joel Holmes has been elected to the Preseason All-America Third Team.

The 6-foot, 306-pound Holmes was selected for the 2017 All-South Region Third Team, after turning in an outstanding season performance. Holmes graded out at 92% and recorded 65 pancake/knockdown blocks.

Holmes was also tabbed for last season's All-Southern Athletic Association First Team, as Trinity made its debut as a football member of the SAA. He achieved All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Honorable Mention Team accolades in 2015.

Led by fifth-year Head Coach Jerheme Urban, the Tigers report to camp on August 8. Leading the way will be 18 returning starters with eight coming from offense, eight from defense, and two from special teams. Trinity posted a 6-4 overall record in the 2017 campaign and registered a 5-3 mark in the SAA for a fourth-place finish.

First up in the coming season will be a road game August 30 at McMurry (TX) University in Abilene, Texas. The Tigers open their home slate September 8 by taking on Hardin-Simmons (TX) University.
