San Antonio - The Trinity baseball team has once again been ranked fourth in the NCAA Division III by the latest D3baseball.com/National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Top-25 Poll.
The Tigers went 4-0 at home last week, beating Hardin-Simmons (TX) University and sweeping Austin (TX) College in a three-game Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference series. Trinity stands 23-8 after having its six-game win streak snapped by NAIA Our Lady of the Lake (TX) University on Tuesday night.
Trinity is tied for fourth in the NCAA Division III with 29 double plays in the column. The Tigers stand alone at #5 in total hits (326) and are tied for fifth in home runs (25). Trinity is in a tie for seventh in sacrifice flies (20) and is tied for ninth in runs (239).
Jake Martin holds the #3 position in DIII runs with 39 to his credit. Martin is tied for fourth in total bases (81) and fifth in hits (48). Michael Goodrich is tied for the #5 slot in sacrifice flies (six), and pitcher Corey Cater is in a tie for seventh in total appearances (16).
The Tigers head to Belton, Texas, Wednesday, for a 7:00 p.m. pairing with the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (TX). Trinity resumes its SCAC campaign Friday in Georgetown, Texas, for a three-game series with Southwestern (TX)) University. The Tigers are currently atop the SCAC standings with a 9-3 record.
