The two Tigers helped spark third-ranked Trinity to a 4-0 record last week, starting with a home victory over Millikin (IL) University and a three-game SCAC road sweep of the University of Dallas (TX).
Nittoli hurled seven innings against Dallas in the second half of a doubleheader to claim the 9-2 victory. The left-hander allowed two earned runs on just three hits, and sat down six of the Crusaders players.
This season, Nittoli is undefeated with a 5-0 record on the mound. He has pitched 36.2 innings with a 3.44 ERA and is second on the pitching staff with 30 strikeouts in his column.
Chaumette batted .563 in the four games, going 9-16 at the plate. The Tiger outfielder drove in nine runs and scored five in the course of the week.
He hit .545 in the three conference games with Dallas, posting a 6-11 mark, along with six RBI and four runs scored. In the SCAC opener against the Crusaders, Chaumette collected three hits, drove in four runs, and scored two others. He also had three hits and three RBI against Millikin.
Chaumette is tops in Trinity's hitting department with a .400 average. He also leads the team with 17 RBI and has crossed the plate 12 times.
The Tigers are on an eight-game win streak and stand at 15-3 overall and 3-0 in the SCAC. Trinity will host NAIA member Our Lady of the Lake (TX) University at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday.
Over the weekend, Trinity will have a SCAC home showdown with sixth-ranked Texas Lutheran University. Friday's single game begins at 7:00 p.m., and Saturday's doubleheader starts at 2:00 p.m.
