San Antonio - Trinity junior Michael Goodrich has been selected as the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Baseball Hitter of the Week.
Goodrich sparked the fourth-ranked Tigers to two of three home victories over Endicott (MA) College last weekend. Trinity opened with an 8-1 decision over the Gulls, won a wild 14-12 matchup, and came up short 5-4 in the finale.
The Tiger catcher batted 6-10 in the three games, along with scoring four runs, driving in five, and cracking a home run and a double. Goodrich also drew four walks in the weekend series.
In the opening game Goodrich went 2-3 at the plate and picked up three RBI, including a two-run homer in the sixth inning. He batted 2-3 in the second game of the series, scored three runs, drove in two, smacked a double, and had three walks. Goodrich hit 2-4 in Sunday's final game. This season, Goodrich is hitting .296 with seven runs scored, seven RBI, three doubles, one round-tripper, and five walks.
Trinity stands at 6-2 and will host a three-game series this weekend with 17th-ranked Babson (MA) College. Friday's and Saturday's games start at 7:00 p.m., and the first pitch on Sunday is slated for 11:00 a.m.
