San Antonio – Tiger pitcher Brendan Meyer has signed a professional contract with Major League Baseball's Cleveland Indians organization.
Meyer has joined the AZL Indians 2 roster and will play in the rookie-level Arizona League in Minor League Baseball.
This season, Meyer held a 6-2 record and a 3.32 ERA for the Trinity baseball team, striking out 65 batters in 65.0 innings of work. He led all Tiger pitchers with six victories and was second on the team in strikeouts. Meyer was named to the All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Second Team at the end of the season.
Meyer joins a list of 27 Tiger baseball players to sign professional contracts under the tutelage of Head Coach Tim Scannell. Coach Scannell has completed 20 years at the helm of Trinity's baseball program and 22 years overall at the University. He led Trinity to the NCAA Division III Championship in 2016 and is the school's all-time leader with more than 650 victories as the head coach.
