#1 Baseball Scores Road Win Over Southwestern

Georgetown, Texas – Trinity's top-ranked baseball team nabbed a 9-5 non-conference road win over Southwestern (TX) University on Wednesday night.

The Tigers scored in each of the first four innings, then added three insurance runs at the end of the game to seal the victory.

Trinity opened up with runs in the first and second innings to take the early lead, but did strand the bases loaded in the first to miss a chance for an even better start.

Southwestern tied up the game with a two-run second inning, but Parker Cormack's two-RBI double keyed a three-run third and the Tigers were in front for good.

Despite Trinity's 5-2 lead, the Pirates battled back once again in the bottom of the third, scoring two more runs to cut the Tiger lead to just one run.

After Trinity made it a 6-4 game with another run in the fourth, both teams were held scoreless through the fifth and sixth.

The Tigers tacked on another run in the seventh, then added two more in the ninth to push the advantage to five runs. Southwestern managed a run in the ninth, but Trinity got a strikeout to stop the comeback bid and win the game.

Trinity improves to 20-2 this season, while Southwestern falls to 12-11. This is the fourth meeting of the year between the two Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference schools, though this is the first non-conference meeting of the season.

Blake Frampton paced Trinity's offense with a 5-5 performance at the plate. Frampton scored three runs and drove in two more, as well as stealing a pair of bases in the game.

Mark Tindall (1-0) picked up the win for the Tigers, pitching 6.0 strong innings of relief. Tindall allowed one run on five hits and struck out 10 batters.

Zach Oretsky picked up two hits and two RBI in the game, while Parker Cormack drove in two runs and scored two others for the Tiger offense.

The Tigers will begin a three-game weekend series at Hardin-Simmons (TX) University on Friday at 7:00 p.m. in Abilene, Texas.
