Baseball's Chris Tate and Scott Walters Earn All-Region Honors

San Antonio - Trinity baseball seniors Chris Tate and Scott Walters have scored All-Region recognition from and the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA).

Both players were elected to the Second Team by both organizations.  Tate was also a Second Team selection by the ABCA last season.

Tate paced the Tigers with a 1.73 ERA, 78 strikeouts, and three saves.  He posted a 5-3 record and piled up 52.0 innings pitched, and was chosen for the All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference First Team.  Tate also earned a spot on the SCAC All-Tournament Team.

Scott Walters was also an All-SCAC and SCAC All-Tournament honoree. He led the Tigers in many statistical categories this year including batting average (.400), runs (45), doubles (16), and triples (six). Walters was fourth in the team with 30 RBI.

In his 19th year as head coach, Tim Scannell led the Tigers to the championship game of the SCAC Tournament held in Grand Prairie, Texas. The third-seeded Tigers defeated top seed Centenary (LA) College to force the "if necessary" game, but the Gents prevailed to win the conference title. Trinity completed its season with a 28-16 record.
