San Antonio - The Trinity offense hammered out 19 hits on its way to an 18-8 win over Our Lady of the Lake (TX) University on Monday night.
After a scoreless first inning, Our Lady of the Lake got on the board with a single run in the second, but the lead would be short-lived.
In the bottom of the inning, Michael Goodrich sparked a five-run inning with a game-tying solo homer, and the Tigers piled up four more hits after that to lead 5-1.
Trinity added four more runs in the third, then answered a fourth-inning run by the Saints with another five-spot in the bottom half to take a 14-2 lead. Rafe Chaumette's three-run double in the fourth blew the inning wide open.
In the top of the fifth, OLLU's offense came to life with a five-run inning, cutting into the Tiger lead. Trinity was not done scoring, though, and took back three more runs in the bottom of the fifth to make it 17-7.
After OLLU scored again in the sixth, Trinity was held scoreless for the first time since the first inning, but made up for it after the seventh-inning stretch. Mason Meredith hit a solo homer to lead off the inning, triggering the run-rule to end the game.
