San Antonio - A total of 45 Trinity student-athletes have been listed on the 2019 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Winter Academic Honor Roll.
To qualify, a student-athlete must have a grade point average of at least 3.25, and the honorees also must be a member of a varsity athletics team in a sport sponsored by the conference.
Men’s and women’s swimming & diving led the way with 23 total recipients, including 13 women’s team members and 10 from the men’s squad. Tiger basketball teams were close behind with 22 student-athletes on the honor roll, as 12 men and 10 women garnered the distinction.
Women’s swimming & diving captured their 16th consecutive SCAC Championship, while the men were runners-up. Men’s swimmer Jacob Hurrell-Zitelman won the SCAC Elite 19 award, presented to a student-athlete for academic and athletic success. Hurrell-Zitelman and men’s diver Daniel Valmassei were elected to the Google Cloud NCAA Division III Academic All-District 8 Men’s At-Large Team.
Tiger men’s basketball advanced to the Semifinals of the SCAC Tournament. Danny Rivara was the recipient of the SCAC Men’s Basketball Elite 19 award. Trinity’s women’s basketball team finished as SCAC regular-season champion, and advanced to the Championship game of the SCAC Tournament.
