San Antonio - Eight outstanding Tiger student-athletes have been tabbed for the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Spring All-Sportsmanship Team.
The conference places a special emphasis on sportsmanship throughout the year. The SCAC spring sports coaches were each asked to submit the name of a student-athlete who exhibited sportsmanship during the season.
Senior John Tucker was the selection for Trinity baseball. Tucker contributed to the fourth-ranked Tigers’ success this season. The infielder was named to the D3baseball.com Team of the Week and as the SCAC Hitter of the Week. Trinity won its 12th SCAC Championship and advanced to the NCAA Division III Playoffs, finishing the season with a 35-12 record.
Sophomore Cameron Krimbill was the pick of men’s tennis. Krimbill earned All-SCAC honors as the Tigers won their 10th straight conference championship. He was ranked 14th in West Region Doubles with Artur Zigman, and 19th in Singles. Thirteenth-ranked Trinity advanced to the NCAA Division III Third Round and finished the dual-match season with a 17-10 record.
Sophomore Annie Wise of the women’s tennis team was earlier selected as a SCAC Character and Community Athlete of the Week. Wise also was designated as Trinity’s Strength and Conditioning Women’s Athlete of the Month. The 17th-ranked Tigers won their eighth straight conference trophy and advanced to the NCAA Second Round. Trinity wrapped up the campaign with a 13-7 overall record.
Senior Elliot Blake was selected from the men’s track & field team. Blake is a distance runner and helped the Tigers to a second-place finish at the SCAC Track & Field Championships. A talented cross country student-athlete, Blake qualified for the 2018 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships.
Senior Allison Hill placed second in the SCAC women’s track & field 3,000-meter steeplechase event, as the Tigers won the conference title for the fifth consecutive season. Hill also earned All-SCAC accolades in the fall in cross country.
Junior Peyton Bartee represented men’s golf on the SCAC All-Sportsmanship Team. Bartee finished in a tie for second place at the SCAC Championship and earned All-SCAC First Team honors. The team placed fifth at the event.
Sophomore Delaney Kelley was the pick for Tiger women’s golf. Kelley missed All-SCAC Second Team honors by just four strokes at the conference tournament, where Trinity finished as runner-up.
First-year Cat Patterson is a Trinity softball pitcher who finished second on the team with 23 strikeouts. She completed her first season as a Tiger with a 4-8 record in the pitcher’s circle. Trinity advanced to the SCAC Tournament and finished the year with a 17-23 overall mark.
