Trinity Breaks SCAC Record With 19th Presidents' Trophy

San Antonio - Trinity has retained possession of the coveted Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Presidents’ Trophy for the eighth year in a row.

Under the leadership of Director of Athletics Bob King, Trinity has now won the Presidents’ Trophy 19 times, which is the most by any one institution in the 57-year history of the award. This year, the Tigers also broke their own record for consecutive wins of the trophy. Trinity had captured the Presidents’ Trophy for seven straight years from 1994-2000.

The Presidents’ Trophy is a 300-pound railroad bell awarded each year to the best overall program in the nine-team conference. The “Bell” is on display in the lobby of Trinity’s William H. Bell Athletic Center.

Tiger teams finished the 2018-19 campaign with 567.5 points, leading second-place Southwestern (TX) University by 35 points. Trinity claimed 11 SCAC Championships during the season. In the fall, conference titles went to men’s and women’s cross country and men’s and women’s soccer. Tiger volleyball shared the regular-season championship trophy. Women’s basketball emerged as the regular-season champion, and women’s swimming and diving took top honors during the winter season. Baseball, men’s and women’s tennis, and women’s track & field were the spring sports champions.
