San Antonio - Trinity leads the winter standings of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Presidents’ Trophy.
The Presidents’ Trophy is a 300-pound railroad bell awarded to the best overall program in the nine-team conference. The “Bell” is on display in the lobby of Trinity’s William H. Bell Athletic Center.
The Tigers currently have chalked up 335 points and lead second-place Southwestern (TX) University by 52.5 points. Trinity women’s swimming & diving team won a winter championship by capturing the SCAC title for the 16th straight occasion, while the Tiger men placed second. Women’s basketball won the regular-season SCAC Championship and advanced to the conference tournament final.
Last fall, Trinity’s men’s and women’s cross country teams swept the SCAC Championships, as did the Tiger men’s and women’s soccer squads. Trinity volleyball was the conference regular-season co-champion.
Under the leadership of Director of Athletics Bob King, Trinity has won the Presidents’ Trophy a conference-record 18 times. In May 2018, the Tigers captured the “Bell” for the seventh straight occasion, equalling the longest consecutive win streak by one institution.
