San Antonio - Ashley Martinez has been appointed an Assistant Athletic Trainer at Trinity University.
Martinez will work with the Sports Medicine staff, providing athletic training coverage for Trinity’s 18 intercollegiate sports.
A native of Del Rio, Texas, Martinez comes to campus from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. For two years Martinez cared for 52 student-athletes and created detailed rehabilitation schedules for the Islanders.
Martinez earned a Master of Athletic Training degree from Texas Tech University in the spring of 2015. Over a 10-month period Martinez served as a intern athletic trainer, focusing on track & field and cross country.
While in Lubbock, Texas, Martinez worked for Covenant Health Sports Medicine, providing medical coverage for local high schools. She also worked for the Texas Tech University Health Science Center. One of her assignments was to assist certified athletic trainers with exit physicals.
She received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Houston (TX) in kinesiology and exercise science in 2013. Martinez gained valuable experience as an athletic training student while studying at Houston. Her specialties were women’s soccer, softball, and women’s tennis.
Martinez also worked at the Southland Conference Women’s Soccer Tournament, the Conference-USA Women’s Tennis Tournament, and the NCAA Women’s Soccer Tournament.
A licensed athletic trainer, Martinez holds certifications in American Red Cross CPR and AED, and the Graston Technique M1.
